ONAAPH Launches the First Specialized Training in Myoelectric Prosthetic Fitting for Forearm Amputees

As part of the modernization of prosthesis manufacturing techniques and the strengthening of its staff's technical skills, the National Office for Equipment and Accessories for Disabled People (ONAAPH) organized, from 2 to 5 June 2025 at the General Directorate headquarters in Bourouba, a specialized training course on myoelectric prosthetic fitting for upper-limb amputees.

This is a first in Algeria, marking the introduction of an innovative technology that allows the prosthesis to be controlled by muscle signals. This advance offers users greater functional autonomy, increased precision of movement, and improved ease of use.

This training forms part of a technical cooperation arrangement with a specialized international company, and testifies to the ONAAPH's determination to draw on global expertise and to train its engineers and technicians in the most advanced prosthetic solutions. Myoelectric technology represents a major step forward in the field of functional rehabilitation, combining performance, light weight, and durability in the service of a better quality of life for beneficiaries.
