As part of its approach to developing and improving services for persons with specific needs, the General Directorate of the National Office for Equipment and Accessories for Disabled People (ONAAPH) hosted, on 2 February 2026, a coordination meeting bringing together the Office's Director General, Mr. Mohamed Mouidi, and the President of the Algerian Federation of People with Motor Disabilities, Ms. Atika Maâmri. The meeting was devoted to examining prospects for the development of care services intended for people with cerebral palsy (CP).
This meeting forms part of an approach aimed at strengthening coordination and consultation among the various stakeholders in the disability sector, in order to promote more integrated and effective services that respond to the specific characteristics and multiple needs of this category of beneficiaries.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on several priority areas. Discussions focused in particular on the importance of strengthening health and social care mechanisms, in order to ensure rigorous follow-up of beneficiaries and to promote a comprehensive and coordinated approach to support. Participants also examined ways of improving the organization of field interventions, with a view to increasing the effectiveness of programs and better responding to the daily and rehabilitation needs of the people concerned.
In addition, both parties stressed the importance of supporting research into, and the development of, equipment intended for people with cerebral palsy (CP), by encouraging innovative initiatives aimed at improving the quality of the devices offered and at strengthening their autonomy and social inclusion.
The discussions also highlighted the need to establish operational mechanisms for coordination and consultation between the ONAAPH and the Federation, fostering the sharing of experience, the harmonization of approaches, and the long-term continuity of programs, while ensuring their effective implementation on the ground.
This meeting reflects the Office's commitment to supporting people with cerebral palsy by ensuring their access to comprehensive and integrated services, while working to remove the obstacles that may limit their participation and inclusion in social life.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to continue their collaboration and to strengthen their partnership in order to achieve concrete and lasting results, contributing to the improvement of the quality of services provided and meeting the expectations of persons with specific needs.
