Towards Better Care: The ONAAPH Board of Directors Assesses the Quality of Services on the Ground

As part of the ongoing commitment of the National Office for Equipment and Accessories for Disabled People (ONAAPH) to improving services for persons with specific needs and strengthening their social inclusion, representatives of the members of the Board of Directors carried out, on 29 January 2026, a field visit to the Algiers Production Unit and the Hearing Aids Centre, in order to review the conditions of care and the services provided at these two facilities.
This visit forms part of a management approach based on close monitoring and the direct assessment of performance. It provided an opportunity for the Board of Directors' representatives to observe the day-to-day operation of the facilities, review the reception and care conditions offered to beneficiaries, and assess the standard of the equipment and technologies in use. It also made it possible to evaluate the effectiveness of the follow-up mechanisms in place and their capacity to respond to the growing needs of persons with specific needs.
During the visit, detailed presentations were given on the various services and equipment available, with particular emphasis on aspects having a direct impact on improving beneficiaries' quality of life. These presentations covered, in particular, orthopedic and prosthetic appliances incorporating modern technologies that meet quality and performance standards, as well as the hearing aids provided by the Office, which contribute to improving hearing capacity, beneficiary autonomy, and integration into the social and professional environment.
The presentations also highlighted that improving the quality of care does not rest solely on the availability of equipment and technical resources, but also on the accuracy of diagnosis and assessment, the selection of the solutions best suited to each individual situation, and the importance of continuous training for human resources. In this regard, emphasis was placed on the essential role of coordination among the various professionals involved and on the need to ensure continuity throughout the care pathway — from the initial consultation to post-delivery follow-up of devices — in order to guarantee the effectiveness and durability of the services provided.
This visit reflects the Board of Directors' commitment to promoting a culture of closeness to operations on the ground and to strengthening governance mechanisms based on the concrete assessment of performance, with the aim of improving the quality of services and increasing the effectiveness of the Office's facilities.
At the conclusion of the visit, the members of the Board of Directors stressed the importance of continuing the efforts under way to develop services and improve the care of persons with specific needs. They also commended the skills and resources available to the Office, while insisting on the need to make optimal use of them in order to meet beneficiaries' expectations and guarantee their right to quality care and effective rehabilitation.
