Towards Strengthened Cooperation with Start-ups to Develop Innovation within the Office

As part of the implementation of the instructions of Mr. Abdelhak Saihi, Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, concerning the strengthening of cooperation with start-ups and micro-enterprises with a view to exploring innovative technical and digital solutions, the Director General of the National Office for Equipment and Accessories for Disabled People – Algeria (ONAAPH) held a working session with the Director General of the National Agency for the Support and Development of Entrepreneurship (ANADE) on Thursday 30 October 2025, at the Office's General Directorate headquarters, in the presence of senior central-level staff.

The meeting opened with a presentation of the services and products provided by the Office for the benefit of persons with disabilities, as well as its areas of competence and the volume of its purchases of the raw materials and inputs required for production operations.

The two parties then examined the prospects for cooperation and partnership between the two institutions, particularly with regard to opening the market to start-ups for the local manufacture of certain components and inputs that are currently imported, in line with the national policy of promoting entrepreneurship and supporting domestic production.

The session concluded with a tour of the Office's facilities, including an exhibition area dedicated to the inputs and equipment used in the manufacture and assembly of prostheses, as well as the raw materials warehouse and the central unit for the assembly and maintenance of hearing aids.

As part of the follow-up to the conclusions of this meeting, a second meeting was held on Tuesday 11 November 2025 at the headquarters of the National Agency for the Support and Development of Entrepreneurship (ANADE). On this occasion, the Agency's senior staff gave a detailed presentation on its missions in supporting and assisting start-ups and micro-enterprises, as well as on the digital applications enabling the Office to identify companies capable of supplying certain inputs and equipment used in the manufacture of prostheses.

The meeting concluded with an affirmation of the importance of sustaining coordination between the Office and the Agency, with a view to supporting national innovation and promoting local production in the field of orthopedic appliances.
